4 Things You Should Do To Prioritise Your Health Today
If you’re wanting to find some ways to make your health a priority, you’re in the right place, as we’re here with 4 simple tips to make it happen! These aren’t major changes, just small adjustments that will become consistent and healthy habits that you can stick to. From throwing on some gym leggings and moving your body to drinking more water, we’ve got it all covered!
Book Health Appointments
Firstly, you should book all the health appointments that you’ve been putting off. If you haven’t been to the dentist in the last 6 months, for an eye test in the last two years, or a blood test in the last year, make sure you get them booked in, or if you’re struggling with anything else and have been putting off making an appointment, like seeing the doctor or physio, get it booked! The longer you put things off, the more likely there is to be an issue that needs more severe treatment, so just get them booked in and you’ll feel much better as a result.
Drink More Water
Another thing you should be doing to prioritise your health is to drink more water. Being hydrated is so important for all elements of our health, from our mental clarity to our muscle recovery and how all of our major organs function, so it’s absolutely key to our health that we are drinking enough. You should aim to eventually reach around 2 litres of water a day, but for now, even an extra glass or two is a positive change. If you can replace them with less healthy drinks, like caffeinated or very sugary, then it’s even better!
Get 8 Hours of Sleep
If you can get 8 hours of sleep, then it can be so transformative. It benefits all elements of our brains and bodies and is the most important time to help us recover. You’ll likely feel really fatigued and groggy when you don’t get enough sleep, however when you do get enough, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. If you struggle to get to sleep, try to put together a relaxing evening routine, including not going on your phone for an hour before you go to bed, doing something chilled like reading and also trying herbal teas.
Move Your Body
Last but not least, you should move your body. This doesn’t mean you have to do a crazy intense workout, but just move your body in some way to help improve your cardiovascular fitness, as well as your joint and muscle health. Throw on your womens gymwear and do something fun, it might be a walk with a friend, going for a swim at the gym, trying a fun new fitness class, doing some yoga at home or going for a light jog. For other people, they thrive off a more intense workout, and that’s fine, but we don’t need to do this everyday or at all in order to look after our bodies. So, just plan some fun movement into your day and it’s a positive change for your health.
